3.8 MeetMe: Chat & Meet New People is a vibrant social networking app designed to connect users with new friends and potential romantic partners. With its engaging features, it stands out in the crowded landscape of social apps. Here are some of its core features that make it a must-try:
As someone who enjoys meeting new people, I often find myself using MeetMe in various scenarios. One of my favorite times to use the app is during my lunch breaks at work. I usually take a few minutes to check in on my friends and see if anyone is live streaming. It’s a great way to unwind and connect with others, even if I can’t physically be with them. Additionally, I’ve used the matchmaking feature to find local hiking buddies for weekend adventures. It’s amazing how quickly I’ve been able to form connections with people who share my interests.
The user interface of MeetMe is intuitive and user-friendly, making navigation a breeze. Upon opening the app, I’m greeted with a clean layout that showcases live streams, friend suggestions, and chat notifications. The feature workflow is smooth; for instance, sending a message or starting a live stream takes just a couple of taps. I’ve noticed that the app performs well, with minimal lag during live broadcasts, which is crucial for maintaining viewer engagement. Overall, my experience has been positive, as I feel encouraged to explore and interact with the community.
MeetMe is free to download and use, which is a significant advantage for anyone looking to connect without financial commitment. However, there are optional in-app purchases available for users who want to enhance their experience, such as premium features that allow for more visibility and interaction. This freemium model makes it accessible to a wide audience while still offering additional perks for those willing to invest.
The developers of MeetMe are proactive in providing updates and support. I’ve noticed regular updates that introduce new features and improve existing ones, which keeps the app fresh and engaging. Additionally, the support team is responsive; I once had a question about a feature, and I received a helpful reply within a day. This level of customer service adds to my overall satisfaction with the app.
As an American user, security and privacy are paramount when using social networking apps like MeetMe. The app is available on both the App Store and Google Play, which adds a layer of credibility. During registration, I was required to provide basic personal information, such as my name and email address, but I appreciated that the app allows for some anonymity by letting users choose usernames that don’t reveal their real identities.
MeetMe does display ads, which is common in free apps, but I was pleased to find that they are not overly intrusive. However, it’s essential to be aware that the app may track user behavior to personalize ads. I recommend reviewing the privacy settings to manage what information you share. Overall, while there are standard privacy concerns, I feel that MeetMe takes reasonable steps to protect its users while still providing a fun and engaging platform for social interaction.

I used to use this app a lot. I used to swipe through people just to find someone to talk to, and there was no problem. NOW, AD after AD after AD after AD. The worst part is that it's NEVER consistent. Sometimes, it takes 6 or 7 swipes to get an ad. Okay, not bad. I can deal with that but I SWEAR at other times, I swipe ONE person, AD, it takes 3 times for me to click the x to finally close the stupid ad, swipe again, BAM ANOTHER AD. It's overwhelming sometimes. 🙄🙄🙄

I have matched with over 1000 profiles. I have encountered three actual human beings, and two of them exclusively use the site as a vlog stream, and were not even matches. There is no movement towards screening profiles, many games feature the same flags to identify them by (poorly cropped photos at obscure angles, usually visible upon making the photo full sized) which could easily be screened by an ai, but the consistency in the tend is sus. Don't download, don't waste your time. 0/5 stars.

They should have an option to put on there if they're looking only for a hookup. This all is like where the bottom of the barrel go. The premium gives you a SINGLE boost and does not keep your filters on so that's a COMPLETE waste. The only good thing is that you can send messages to anyone, except that does mean unsolicited images and terrible comments. Now they added full length ads and opening Live streams instantly when the app is opened. Terrible.

app will not verify your face with AI unless you own a spotlight. I gave up on going back. I spent thousands on that app. I guess I'll wait for a sunny day. just as people in the boxes cannot be seen half the time. The app crashes and you need to go back into streams. I have one friend I wanted to see. I even used a light bulb to my face and the AI facial recognition is wacked. I missed my friends event. it's not in the stars

A lot of core features are paywalled, there's also a decent amount of bots around, though their moderation team is quite solid, some bots could be caught with automation, the biggest issue for me is that you can't merely view profiles in your liked or "liked you" list or message them later without a forced paywall, pretty much what ruins it for me. I don't mind ads as long as the core functionality fully worked without a paywall, but it's ads plus paywalls
