3.9 SoFi: Bank, Invest & Crypto is a multifaceted financial app that combines banking, investing, and cryptocurrency trading into one seamless platform. Here are some of its standout features:
As someone who juggles multiple financial responsibilities, I found myself using the SoFi app in various scenarios throughout my day. For instance, during my morning coffee, I often check my savings account balance to see how much interest I've accrued overnight. It’s a small but satisfying ritual that sets a positive tone for my day. Later, while commuting, I might browse through investment options, looking for new opportunities to grow my portfolio. The app's notifications keep me updated on market changes, which is incredibly helpful when I’m on the go.
The user interface of SoFi is sleek and intuitive, making navigation a breeze. Upon opening the app, I’m greeted with a clean dashboard that displays my banking, investment, and crypto accounts all in one place. The workflow for making transactions is straightforward; I can transfer money, buy stocks, or trade crypto with just a few taps. Performance-wise, the app is responsive, and I’ve never experienced any lag, even during peak usage times. Overall, my experience has been overwhelmingly positive, as the app feels like a personal financial assistant that’s always at my fingertips.
SoFi offers a range of services, many of which are free of charge. For instance, there are no account maintenance fees for banking services, and trading stocks and ETFs incurs no commission. However, it’s worth noting that there may be fees associated with certain investment products or loans. Overall, I find the pricing structure to be transparent and competitive, especially for someone looking to manage multiple financial aspects in one place.
SoFi is committed to keeping its app updated with new features and improvements. I’ve noticed regular updates that enhance functionality and user experience. The customer support is also commendable; I reached out with a question about my account, and the response was prompt and helpful. They offer support through various channels, including chat and email, which adds to the convenience of using the app.
As an American user, security and privacy are paramount when it comes to financial apps. SoFi is available on both the App Store and Google Play, and it has received positive reviews regarding its security measures. During registration, I was required to provide personal information, including my Social Security number and bank details, which is standard for financial services. However, I felt reassured by SoFi's commitment to data protection, as they utilize encryption and other security protocols to safeguard user information.
In terms of ads and tracking behavior, I noticed that the app does not bombard me with intrusive advertisements, which is a relief. Instead, it focuses on providing relevant financial content and personalized recommendations based on my usage patterns. Overall, I feel confident in SoFi's ability to protect my data while offering a tailored financial experience.

Generally, the bank and the app are alright. However, I am having a major issue with the fact that some merchants simply don't accept the card as payment. In my experience this has mostly been restaurants. It's super embarrassing to have my card denied when trying to pay a bill. Even though the card still works via Google Wallet. SoFi needs to investigate why their card is not being accepted by some merchants.

It's a pretty alright app with lots of helpful features. I do really wish that the pop-up notifications I get would translate into persistent notifications in the app, or that clicking them might actually take me to review the trades I'm being notified about. As it is, I have to spend way too much time slogging through the menus and trying to remember disappeared information to track what's going on in my account and act appropriately.

really happy with this app/bank. had a bank before sofi ( I will not mention their names) but my account was hacked 3 times!! I finally got fed up with them and switched. I'm so glad I did. the app is easy to use, and you also earn points, which you can redeem for cash, or pay off your credit card/student loans. I'd give them 6 Stars if it would let me.

I've been using this app for about 3 months. I had no issues at first but I suddenly stopped getting the verification texts when I got a new phone(same phone number) and now the ID verification won't work either. I get all the way to the end after taking a selfie with my license and it suddenly can't verify or confirm that it's me. It doesn't matter that I can read every word on my ID in the pictures. I guess I'm just supposed to guess how much money is in my account now...

For scheduled Bill Pay, it doesn't use the description you give it to pay the payee. Meaning if you have multiple American Express accounts, once you schedule the payment, the description is dropped! That's REALLY DUMB!!! Even putting the last digits of the account would help but I don't understand why these dunderheads left it out! ONE STAR!!!!
