3.4 Cardboard is an innovative app that brings a unique blend of virtual reality and augmented reality experiences to users. With its user-friendly interface and engaging features, it has quickly become a favorite among tech enthusiasts and casual users alike. Here are some of the core features that make Cardboard stand out:
My journey with the Cardboard app began during a family gathering. We were looking for a fun way to entertain the kids, and I suggested we explore some virtual reality experiences together. We all took turns using the app, and the kids were absolutely mesmerized by the interactive games and educational content. Another scenario was during my daily commute; I often use the app to unwind by watching immersive 360-degree travel videos, which transport me to beautiful destinations while I’m stuck in traffic.
The user interface of Cardboard is intuitive and straightforward, making it easy for anyone to navigate. Upon opening the app, I was greeted with a clean layout that showcased various categories of content. The feature workflow is seamless; I could easily switch between VR and AR modes with just a tap. Performance-wise, the app runs smoothly without any lag, which is crucial for maintaining immersion in VR experiences. Overall, I felt a sense of excitement and wonder every time I used the app, as it continually offered new adventures and learning opportunities.
Cardboard is free to download, which is a significant advantage for users looking to explore VR and AR without any financial commitment. While there are optional in-app purchases for premium content, I found that the free offerings were more than sufficient for casual use. This pricing model makes it accessible to a broader audience, allowing more people to experience the magic of virtual reality.
The developers of Cardboard are committed to enhancing user experience through regular updates. I’ve noticed several improvements since I first downloaded the app, including new content and bug fixes. The support team is responsive and helpful; I reached out with a question about a feature, and they replied promptly with clear instructions. This level of support gives me confidence in the app’s ongoing development and reliability.
As an American user, security and privacy are paramount when using any app, and Cardboard does a commendable job in this regard. The app is available on both the App Store and Google Play, which adds a layer of credibility. During the registration process, I was only required to provide minimal personal information, which is a relief compared to many other apps that demand extensive data.
Regarding ads and tracking behavior, I noticed that Cardboard does not bombard users with intrusive advertisements, which enhances the overall experience. The app does collect some usage data to improve functionality, but it is transparent about this in its privacy policy. I appreciate that I can enjoy the app without feeling like my personal information is being exploited.

this was an amazing app! but since I updated my phone to a Samsung S25, this app is no longer supported on this new phone. So while you can still view the old pictures you took, you can no longer record new ones. Very disappointing, as this is the only one I know of that also records sound with your 360 pictures. Please put out an update to fix this!!

I'm still waiting for my "Eureka moment"... and waiting and waiting. If you're having trouble falling asleep or you like fidgeting this is for you, but you're still just as far away from viewing VR as you were before downloading it, it's a viewer tool, NOT a viewer inself. The one thing the ad IS is that it is misleading. It does work bare bones though.

Add an option to bind buttons. Instead of tapping the screen, it would be nice to press the volume button, or a button on a headset. I'd also expect a setting to adjust the size of the screens. Small VR sets don't work as well on large phones, and phones with 2:1 screen ratios. Also, you shouldn't be allowed to charge more than $10 for any of the google carboard sets.

It is good for people who use the cardboard br headsets. I know it is not meant for people who dont use it but I would still like to. My headset does not have the button on the top right where I can click on the screen on my phone. I would like to use the relax feature in artic mode and look at the fox & birds. But to click on a button, i have to continually take my phone out and do it manually. If the feature that allows me to hover over the button to select it, that would be more convenient.

Two stars for a fun idea and making a successful connection, but it just doesn't pass my bluetooth keyboard through and without that it is pointless. My keyboard works fine everywhere else. Also, the display for the left eye is larger than that for the right and both are shifted from where they are in the standard cardboard viewer app. I received warnings at startup that it was for an old version of Android. Needs work to be useful.
