4.7 As a busy professional and an avid reader, I often find myself juggling multiple responsibilities. Hoopla Digital has become my go-to app for entertainment and learning during my daily commute. I typically use it while riding the subway, where I can dive into an engaging audiobook or catch up on the latest eBook releases. On weekends, I love to unwind by streaming movies or documentaries that pique my interest. Recently, I used Hoopla to borrow a classic film that I had missed in theaters, allowing me to enjoy it from the comfort of my couch.
The user interface of Hoopla Digital is one of its strongest points. Upon opening the app, I am greeted with a visually appealing layout that showcases featured titles and categories. The search function is efficient, allowing me to find specific authors or genres quickly. I particularly enjoy the seamless experience of switching between different media types; for example, I can easily transition from listening to an audiobook to reading an eBook without any hassle. The app performs smoothly, with minimal loading times, which is crucial when I’m eager to dive into a new title. Overall, my experience has been overwhelmingly positive, as Hoopla has made accessing a diverse range of content incredibly convenient.
Hoopla Digital is free to use, but it requires a library card from a participating library. This means that as long as I have a valid library membership, I can access all the content without any additional fees. It’s a fantastic deal considering the extensive library of titles available at my fingertips. I appreciate that I can enjoy high-quality content without worrying about subscription costs.
Hoopla Digital regularly updates its app to enhance user experience and add new features. I’ve noticed improvements in loading times and the addition of new content categories over the past few months. The support team is responsive and helpful; I once had a question about borrowing limits, and they promptly provided me with the information I needed. Their commitment to user satisfaction is evident, making me feel valued as a user.
As an American user, I take security and privacy seriously, and I’m pleased to report that Hoopla Digital prioritizes these concerns. The app is available on both the App Store and Google Play, ensuring that it meets the security standards set by these platforms. When registering, I only needed to provide basic information linked to my library card, which minimizes the amount of personal data shared. I appreciate that there are no intrusive ads or tracking behavior within the app, allowing me to enjoy my content without distractions. Overall, I feel secure using Hoopla Digital, knowing that my privacy is respected while I explore its vast library.

I really love that I can check out audiobooks with my library card that aren't available on Libby. Suggested improvements: 1. The ability to preview an audiobook before I use one of my limited borrows. 2. Probably not doable, but the ability to send ebooks to Kindle because I don't like reading on a tablet or phone. 3. Make audiobooks respond to reverse and forward on a shower speaker as they do on other apps.

I love accessing library books instantly, without waiting in a queue! I wish there were a way to send ebooks to Kindle but I get why there isn't. My biggest complaint is that there's no way to screenshot and no good way to copy a highlight - I get that there's DRM, but any library ebook that goes on an ereader at least lets you share quotes easily.

it's a good app. My biggest issue is audio books. after it starts a handful of times in the car the book will restart. No matter how far into the book I am eventually it will restart from the very beginning. I don't know why. I've emailed customer support about it and they had me install and reinstall the app. I still have the same issue. it's an inconvenience when listening because I constantly need to remember where I am in the book so I can get back to a close location.

I love that my library connects to Hoopla and that I can download books, audiobooks, even movies on demand. 5 stars for that. Hoopla as an app is buggy. More than once, when I've prepared for a trip by downloading my book ahead of time, Hoopla says, NOT TODAY, and makes it impossible to read my book. Super frustrating. Sometimes it just starts an audiobook from the beginning, and loses the position I was at - not easy to get back to the same spot. 3 stars for the app itself.

What I like: I can get books that are on hold or not available thru other apps without the wait. Lots of titles I can get on Hoopla that I would have to pay for elsewhere. What I don't like: app is a bit buggy. Sometimes it kicks me back a couple chapters or even to the beginning and I have to sift thru to find where I left off. Also, book limit.is slim. In my case, only 4 per month. Not a deal breaker bit kind of a bummer.
