3.6 Manta - Manhwa, Comics, Novels is a treasure trove for fans of Asian comics and literature. The app is designed to provide a seamless reading experience, and it certainly delivers on that promise. Here are some of its standout features:
My journey with Manta began during a long train ride. I had heard about the app from a friend who raved about its extensive library, so I decided to give it a try. As I settled into my seat, I opened the app and was immediately greeted by a plethora of titles. I started reading a fantasy manhwa that had been recommended to me, and before I knew it, I was completely absorbed in the story. Since then, I’ve used Manta in various scenarios—whether it’s during my lunch breaks, while waiting for appointments, or even cozying up at home on a rainy day. The app has become my go-to source for entertainment, and I love how it fits seamlessly into my daily routine.
The user interface of Manta is sleek and modern, making it easy to navigate through different genres and titles. I appreciate how the app categorizes content, allowing me to quickly find what I’m in the mood for. The reading experience itself is smooth, with crisp visuals and easy-to-read text. I’ve never encountered any lag or glitches, which is a huge plus. The feature that allows me to bookmark my favorite series is particularly useful, as it helps me keep track of what I’m currently reading. Overall, my experience with Manta has been overwhelmingly positive; it feels like a well-crafted platform that truly caters to comic and novel enthusiasts.
Manta operates on a subscription model, which I find to be quite reasonable given the vast amount of content available. The monthly fee is affordable, and considering the quality and quantity of titles, I believe it offers great value for money. There’s also a free trial available, which allows new users to explore the app before committing to a subscription. This feature is particularly appealing, as it gives potential users a taste of what Manta has to offer without any financial commitment.
The developers of Manta are proactive in providing updates and support. I’ve noticed that new titles are added regularly, and the app itself receives updates that enhance its functionality. Whenever I’ve had questions or encountered issues, the customer support team has been responsive and helpful. They have a dedicated FAQ section that addresses common concerns, which I found to be quite useful. Overall, the commitment to keeping the app fresh and user-friendly is evident, and it adds to my overall satisfaction with the service.
As an American user, security and privacy are always top of mind when using any app, and Manta does not disappoint in this regard. The app is available on both the App Store and Google Play, which adds a layer of credibility. During the registration process, I was only required to provide minimal personal information, which I appreciated. This approach minimizes the risk of data breaches and keeps my information secure.
Additionally, Manta does not bombard users with ads, which is a significant plus for me. I’ve noticed that the app does not engage in excessive tracking behavior, allowing me to enjoy my reading experience without feeling like I’m being monitored. Overall, Manta prioritizes user privacy, making it a trustworthy choice for comic and novel enthusiasts.

Once upon a time, I would have given this app a higher rating. Many of the series are quality productions, even if many are also very cliché. However, it really bothers me how many series now cost an additional fee to unlock and read via the purchase of "gems," which are too pricey for my meager budget. This includes many that didn't used to cost extra. It's really frustrating to be asked to pay for something I've essentially already paid for. I'd much rather just pay a higher subscription fee.

This used to be THE best app for reading Manga. Better than Webtoon. It was absolutely worth the monthly subscription to be able to read good stories. However, now, on top of a subscription, they want you to pay with gems too. They'll say "oh it's just another way to read stories, and you can still enjoy it without it!" But you can't. Even stories that used to be free or for subscription only are turning to micro-transaction gem purchases. Sadly, after all this time, I'll be unsubscribing.

Wanted to get back into reading webcomics, and figured I'd start here since I loved the subscription model. Even with less titles there were some great ones and I was just so tired of being nickel and dimed in every other app, and just being able to read everything for a flat fee was super refreshing! I see that's no longer the case and most episodes are only unlockable with gems which can get quite pricey. Very unfortunate to see this happen. I'm too sick of that to revisit this app anymore.

I deleted the app and cancelled my subscription shortly after manta added the gem model for some comics. I don't want to keep track of points, gems, coins, or anything like that, I just want to pay a subscription and be done with it. My problem with the app now is that the gem comics are EVERYWHERE. I don't want to see them. They should be shown less or there needs to be an option to hide them. I will not redownload and resubscribe until this is fixed.

I used to love this app, you got to read everything for the price of a subscription. Now most of the content is locked behind "gems" even if you have the subscription. When I'm already paying a subscription why would I want to pay MORE just to read what used to be included? There's even several I had saved that are now locked. Most likely will be canceling, it's not worth it anymore
