4.6 Square Point of Sale: Payment is a robust app designed to streamline payment processing for businesses of all sizes. Here are some of its standout features that make it a go-to choice for merchants:
As a small business owner, I often find myself in various situations where efficient payment processing is crucial. One of the most memorable experiences was during a local farmers' market. I set up my booth early in the morning, and as customers began to flock in, I realized that many of them preferred to pay with cards rather than cash. Thanks to Square Point of Sale, I was able to accept card payments effortlessly using my smartphone and a small card reader. This not only made transactions smoother but also attracted more customers who might have otherwise walked away due to a lack of cash.
Another scenario where I found the app invaluable was during a holiday sale at my store. With the influx of customers, I needed to keep track of inventory levels in real-time. The inventory management feature allowed me to see which items were running low and reorder them on the spot, ensuring I didn’t miss out on potential sales. The ability to manage everything from one app made my life so much easier during the busy season.
The user interface of Square Point of Sale is intuitive and user-friendly. Upon opening the app, I was greeted with a clean layout that made navigation a breeze. The main dashboard provides quick access to all essential features, from processing payments to viewing sales reports. I particularly appreciated how easy it was to customize the checkout experience; I could add discounts, apply taxes, and even split payments among multiple customers with just a few taps.
Performance-wise, the app is incredibly responsive. I never experienced lag or crashes, even during peak hours when I had multiple transactions happening simultaneously. The overall experience left me feeling confident in my ability to manage my business efficiently. The analytics feature was a game-changer, providing me with insights that helped me strategize my sales approach moving forward.
Square Point of Sale operates on a pay-as-you-go pricing model, which is particularly appealing for small business owners like myself. There are no monthly fees, and I only pay a small percentage per transaction. This means I can keep my overhead low while still enjoying the benefits of a professional payment processing system. Additionally, Square offers various hardware options, such as card readers and registers, which can be purchased separately based on my business needs.
Square is committed to providing regular updates to enhance user experience and security. I’ve noticed several improvements since I started using the app, including new features and performance enhancements. The customer support is also commendable; I had a question about a transaction, and their support team responded promptly via chat, providing me with the assistance I needed without any hassle. This level of support gives me peace of mind knowing that help is just a click away.
As an American user, security and privacy are paramount when it comes to handling financial transactions. Square Point of Sale is available on both the App Store and Google Play, ensuring that it meets the security standards set by these platforms. During the registration process, I was required to provide basic personal information, including my name, email, and business details. This information is securely stored and used primarily for transaction processing and account management.
One aspect I appreciate is that Square does not bombard users with ads or engage in excessive tracking behavior. The app focuses on providing a seamless payment experience without compromising user privacy. Additionally, Square employs encryption and other security measures to protect sensitive data, which is crucial for maintaining customer trust. Overall, I feel confident using Square Point of Sale, knowing that my information and my customers' data are well-protected.

I've been using this app for years and never had an issue UNTIL NOW!! I have items that need added to my site, but the app updated on 8/16/24 and it hasn't worked right since! It won't upload a single picture no matter which way I try to do it, no matter where the file is located or what type of file or what size the file is. It won't load them! I can do the description, price, etc. but NO PICTURES. People won't buy if there's no pictures!!

I've been using square for years and now recently in the past 2 months my tap to pay is having connectivity issues. It seems the only way to address those is to restart your phone and forget app which is very annoying to do when you're trying to check out a client and run a small business. I will be looking into a different pay system since their customer service cannot resolve this issue. It's costing extra money when I have to enter the credit card number in to get the payment processed

Terrible experience. If you are willing to choke down the price beyond using the free version be prepared for a clunky user interface, bugs. Saving the worst part for last, the support team. I have been back and forth on hold for 45 mins and they keep asking the same question over and over again. The answer is simple. I tried square kiosk, $50 a month and it wasnt for me. The application won't let me renew without it. Current phone call 48:53 minutes.

The most confusing pos system and app I've ever seen. There is absolutely no way to track your finances thru this app. Nothing lines up (sales, deposits, etc.) and it's impossible to know where all of my money is going. In the process of analyzing replacement pos systems. DO NOT USE SQUARE.

In the past couple of months this app has become completely unreliable. I have a compatible phone but it keeps telling me to connect hardware, reader failed to connect. I have done everything to try to get it to allow me to tap to pay, some days it works some days it doesn't. Uninstalling, reinstalling the app, logging in and out, turing on and off developer options, nothing seems to work. Until it does, and then later it doesn't.
