4.6 The Toyota app is a powerful tool designed to enhance the ownership experience for Toyota vehicle users. With a range of features that cater to both convenience and connectivity, it stands out as a must-have for any Toyota owner. Here are some of the core features that make the app a valuable companion:
As a proud owner of a Toyota RAV4, I find myself using the Toyota app in various scenarios throughout my daily life. One of the most common situations is during my morning routine. As I sip my coffee, I can start my car remotely, allowing it to warm up while I finish getting ready. This feature is especially handy during the winter months when the last thing I want to do is step into a freezing vehicle.
Another scenario is when I’m out running errands. After a busy day at work, I often forget where I parked my car in the crowded shopping center. With the “Find My Car” feature, I can easily locate my vehicle without the stress of wandering around. It’s a small but significant convenience that makes my life easier.
The user interface of the Toyota app is intuitive and user-friendly. Upon opening the app, I’m greeted with a clean layout that makes navigation a breeze. The main dashboard displays essential information about my vehicle, including fuel levels and maintenance alerts, all at a glance. I appreciate how the app organizes features logically, allowing me to access what I need quickly.
In terms of performance, the app runs smoothly without any noticeable lag. I’ve never experienced crashes or bugs, which is a testament to its reliability. The workflow for scheduling service appointments is straightforward; I simply select the service I need, choose a date and time, and confirm. Overall, my experience with the app has been overwhelmingly positive, making it an essential tool for managing my vehicle.
The Toyota app is free to download and use, which is a significant advantage for Toyota owners. There are no hidden fees or subscription costs associated with the app, making it accessible to everyone. This free access allows users to take full advantage of the app’s features without worrying about additional expenses.
Toyota regularly updates the app to enhance functionality and address any issues. I’ve noticed improvements in performance and new features added over time, which shows the company’s commitment to providing a top-notch user experience. Additionally, customer support is readily available through the app, offering assistance for any questions or concerns. This level of support gives me confidence in using the app, knowing that help is just a tap away.
As an American user, security and privacy are paramount when using any app, and the Toyota app does not disappoint. It is available on both the App Store and Google Play, ensuring that it meets the necessary security standards for mobile applications. During the registration process, I was required to provide basic personal information, such as my name, email address, and vehicle details. This information is essential for the app to function correctly and provide personalized services.
Regarding ads and tracking behavior, I appreciate that the Toyota app does not bombard me with intrusive advertisements. While it does collect data to improve user experience, I feel comfortable knowing that my information is handled responsibly. Toyota has a solid privacy policy in place, which outlines how my data is used and protected, giving me peace of mind as I navigate the app.

Every time I use the app or get a notification, it disconnects my phone from the car. I am then required to either connect my phone to the car with a cable, or delete then repair my phone with the car. Extremely frustrating. The functionality is also more limited than I expected. I'll keep using the app for the free trial period but unless things improve drastically, I'll delete once the trial is over.

The app just plain doesn't work. I try to enable something and it tells me I need to connect via Wi-Fi, I try to connect over Wi-Fi and it says I need to disconnect from Bluetooth, I disconnect Bluetooth and it tells me I can't connect via Wi-Fi because I'm not connected via BT. Remote start as a service for $80/year? Far que. An aftermarket remote start costs that much and works for the life of the car. Thankfully it's my girlfriend's car but I'll definitely never buy a Toyota after this.

I have enjoyed the app immensely the past year with my free subscription. Now I have to pay a monthly fee to continue. I literally only want the remote subscription, but they force you to combine it with either a navigation app or a music lovers app, both of which you don't need if you use Android Auto or Apple to connect to your vehicle. There should be an option for only the remote, be realistic with your consumers needs, this isn't an inexpensive service you are providing. Do better.

The app itself works pretty well, though I still get some notifications I turned off. So why the 2 stars? My free trial of Remote Connect ended. I'll pay for it, it's convenient. But I can't. I HAVE TO pay twice as much for a bundle of Remote Connect and something else I don't want. So instead of Toyota getting me to pay 100 bucks a year for something I actually want, I'm going to buy a 30 dollar airtag and just live without the other features. Dumb.

The app had always been pretty lackluster but at least I could lock/unlock the car from my phone. Now I've come to find out that the few remote options I had were part of a trial and now behind a monthly pay wall. It's ridiculous that I should have to pay a monthly fee for a handful of remote controls, those sort of features should be a given! Way to dime and nickel your customers, Toyota.
