Real Experience Using "Contacts"

Application Scenarios

As someone who juggles both personal and professional relationships, the "Contacts" app has become an essential part of my daily routine. For instance, during a recent family reunion, I used the smart grouping feature to quickly send out a group message to all my relatives. Instead of manually selecting each contact, I simply tapped on the "Family" group, and within seconds, everyone was informed about the gathering.

In my professional life, I often attend networking events where I meet numerous new contacts. The seamless integration with my email allows me to save new contacts directly from my inbox. After receiving a follow-up email from a potential client, I was able to save their details instantly, ensuring I wouldn’t lose track of them.

User Experience

The user interface of the "Contacts" app is clean and intuitive, making navigation a breeze. Upon opening the app, I’m greeted with a well-organized layout that allows me to access my contacts, groups, and settings with just a few taps. The feature workflow is smooth; for example, adding a new contact is straightforward, requiring only a few fields to be filled out. I appreciate how the app prompts me to add additional information, like birthdays or notes, which helps me keep track of important details.

Performance-wise, the app is quick and responsive. I’ve never experienced lag, even when scrolling through a long list of contacts. Overall, my feelings after using the app are overwhelmingly positive. It has simplified my life, allowing me to manage my connections effortlessly.

Pricing

The "Contacts" app is free to download and use, which is a significant advantage for anyone looking to manage their contacts without incurring additional costs. While there are premium features available for a small fee, the free version is robust enough for most users. I found that the basic functionalities met all my needs without requiring any upgrades.

Updates & Support

The developers of the "Contacts" app are proactive in providing updates, which often include new features and bug fixes. I’ve noticed improvements in performance and usability with each update, which shows their commitment to enhancing user experience. Additionally, customer support is readily available through the app, and I’ve found their response times to be quick and helpful whenever I had questions.

Security & Privacy Review

As an American user, security and privacy are paramount when it comes to managing personal information. The "Contacts" app is available on both the App Store and Google Play, ensuring that it meets the necessary security standards for mobile applications. During the registration process, I was only required to provide minimal personal data, which is a relief in an age where apps often ask for excessive information.

Importantly, the app does not display ads, which is a significant plus for me. I dislike intrusive advertisements, especially when managing sensitive information. Furthermore, the app has a clear privacy policy that outlines how my data is used and protected. I appreciate that there is no tracking behavior, allowing me to use the app without worrying about my information being sold or misused.

Since an update my "Labels" that I had created are no longer working properly. When I want to press on the list of contacts that have a certain label added to them, it no longer shows them and shows "new label" and when I try to attach one of those labels that were created to a new contract it shows the same thing- "new label". I used that list of "Labels" (that were created) on a pretty regular basis and now it's frustrating not being able to anymore.

No option to display only contacts with phone numbers, one of the most basic features in every contacts app in every other phone I've ever had. Unfortunately, my new phone came preinstalled with this garbage with no other option but to take my chances with finding something else in the play store. The fact that this app is missing one of the most basic, common, and necessary features is a huge Fail! Edut: 6 months later, still no change. They apparently don't care about feedback.

I want to be able to easily back my contacts up to a micro SD card w/o having to download another app. I haven't figured out how to do that from this app. Also, when I updated the last time, I lost at least 2 contacts, fortunately, they're ones i use every day so I caught it quickly. But, that is weird and sloppy. 10/13: Every update erases contacts that haven't been synced and it turns on "Sync to Google Account" immediately. I don't want to sync and I want to save my contacts to the device.

Same problems since 2017 or earlier. The contact photo is too big. It takes up the top half of the screen, and the keyboard takes up the bottom half. The best use of the screen would be name, phone, email, address, etc. There must be an option to hide the giant contact photo, or at least make it smaller. There should be settings to simplfiy the contact creation screen by hiding and ordering fields.

"Typically Google" meaning that when a function disappears ie audible alerts when receiving a text, Google refuses to inform us about it or whether it'll be fixed or not, even though it's complained about on multiple online forums, plus even when feedback is given through the app. no response, nor is there a fix. Google engineering needs to fire a bunch of engineers to set an example. This is one of 3 apps I've had similar issues with.
