4.6 As someone who loves exploring new dining options, I find myself reaching for the Yelp app almost daily. Whether I'm planning a weekend brunch with friends or looking for a quick lunch during a busy workday, Yelp is my go-to resource. Just last Saturday, I was in the mood for something different, so I opened the app to search for nearby sushi places. Within seconds, I had a list of highly-rated spots, complete with reviews and photos. I ended up trying a new place that had just opened, and it was a delightful experience!
The user interface of Yelp is intuitive and user-friendly. Upon opening the app, I’m greeted with a clean layout that makes navigation a breeze. The search function is robust, allowing me to filter by cuisine, price range, and even dietary restrictions. I appreciate how quickly I can access reviews and ratings, which are prominently displayed alongside each listing. The performance is smooth, with minimal loading times, making it easy to browse through options. Overall, my experience with the app has been overwhelmingly positive; it feels like having a local food expert in my pocket.
Yelp is free to download and use, which is a significant advantage for anyone looking to explore dining options without any financial commitment. While there are premium features available for businesses, as a user, I have access to all the essential functionalities without spending a dime. This makes it an invaluable tool for food lovers like me who want to discover new places without breaking the bank.
The Yelp app is regularly updated, which keeps it fresh and functional. I’ve noticed improvements in the user interface and new features being added over time, such as enhanced search filters and better integration with delivery services. If I ever encounter an issue, Yelp’s customer support is responsive and helpful, ensuring that any concerns are addressed promptly. This level of support adds to my overall satisfaction with the app.
When it comes to security and privacy, Yelp takes several measures to protect its users. The app is available on both the App Store and Google Play, ensuring that it meets the necessary security standards for mobile applications. During registration, I was required to provide basic personal information, such as my name and email address, but I appreciate that Yelp allows me to use the app without sharing my location unless I choose to. This gives me control over my privacy.
Yelp does display ads, but they are generally unobtrusive and relevant to my interests. I’ve noticed that the app tracks my usage patterns to provide personalized recommendations, which is a common practice among apps today. However, I feel comfortable knowing that I can manage my privacy settings within the app. Overall, Yelp strikes a good balance between providing a personalized experience and respecting user privacy, making it a trustworthy choice for food enthusiasts.

I’ve used this app for years to find places to eat, but it has gotten worse over time. The biggest problem is the loss of photos, especially food photos. That was one of the most useful parts of the app. Menus are often incomplete, outdated, or hard to view, so seeing actual food pictures helped decide where to go. Now that those photos are gone or buried, the app is much less useful for choosing a restaurant.

Update: had to download the app again for a waiting list. it did not improve the user experience. The app would crash continuously. I think in the process of waiting the hour so we were on the waitlist, it crashed like 12 times. Every time, it would say something funky happened, I would have to force close app and reopen it just to see my place in line. O:Asked for too many permissions when all you want to do is see your place in line. I don't want an extra app on my phone just to see my place.

I've used this app for many years. It used to be my go-to to find places to eat-despite their listings being chronically incomplete. They have made a lot of changes over the years, removing the best features and adding a bunch of useless and unwanted delivery options. you can't see all the photos any more. the ability to view the menus is a feature that's gotten worse and pictures are still the best. No one cares about rooftop dining, we want to know if a restaurant has table service and liquor

I've been a frequent user of yelp for many years. However recently, I've noticed the app is never working. I always get the error that "something funky with yelp right now" and to "try again later". This happened with 2 separate phones. I've also tried deleting the app, restarting my phone, checking for updates. Nothing has worked and it's becoming frustrating not having a reliable app that actually works.

I have always used the website browser for yelp. it's 2026, every single store or business has a damn app and phones do not come with enough space to download every single thing (parking, restaurants, rewards, medical, shopping, bill pay, banking, health tracking, weight tracking, period tracking, literally you name it there's an app). I can't even read full reviews without downloading this app. that's is so stupid and unnecessary.
